Why Trump is Right on N Korea

News is abound lately of Trumps war of words via Twitter in response to the little dictator of N. Korea.     People of course, because it is Trump tweeting, are divided.   Some are condemning him, and some are defending him.      I’m one of those who support Trump on this.

In the past, presidents have basically ignored the bluster of Kim and his father’s bluster.  The reason being is because they weren’t a threat before.   They were safely contained in their country.     They didn’t attack anyone directly so they could safely be ignored.

Obama, made a mistake however, he ignored their nuclear program.   We will never know why he chose to ignore it, but that left the burden on the new president who took office, which happens to be Trump.

In Trump’s short time in office, N Korea went from being a blustering dictator with aspirations of grandeur, to a nuclear threat that could reach Guam and the western shores of the United States, thanks to some very public nuclear ICBM launches.

This changed things.    This has turned N Korea into a nuclear power.    With the button in the hands of an unstable leader, who believes he is a god.   Who has a mass of people who have been brainwashed that he is a god.     Due to this belief and their isolation from the rest of the world, the people of N Korea are unaware that their leader is a madman.

Some people who are against Trump, believe that in this situation Trump should just not provoke the little dictator.    That hiding their collective heads in the sand is the best answer.   Why?  Because it is easier to believe that they will not attack if you don’t do anything.     This is sane, but not reasonable or logical thinking.  After all, sane people don’t attack someone else unless they are provoked.

We are not talking about sanity here, when we speak of N Korea or their government and it’s leader.    Their leader, truly believes he is godlike.   He was raised to believe that by his father and that regime’s sycophants.      People in that country are forced to pray or to pay homage to statues all over that country at least once a day.    To them, Kim is a god.   Their leader.    The people don’t have internet access.    The ones who do are in the employ of the government and those people are heavily watched are restricted in what they are allowed to do online.    Mostly hacking and cyber warfare.

N Korea has one real city.   And that is the capitol where all the government officials live with their families.   No one who isn’t a government official is permitted to live there.    Tourists are allowed to go there.   However, they are strict rules for them and when outside the hotel, are only allowed to go where their tour guides tell them to.   The tour guides by the way are military intelligence personnel.    They watch and report your every word and move to their superiors.

This is the life in N Korea.   So when Kim has made threats in the past, it wasn’t that serious because they didn’t have the military might or power to do much more than bluster.

When N Korea developed nuclear warheads and figured out how to launch them to hit targets as far as the USA, that made them a serious threat.    You don’t leave someone who is mentally unstable with nukes.   And Trump is doing what Obama should have done.  Take them seriously.

Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away.    Typically ignoring problems only makes it worse.    Ignoring an unstable dictator with nukes can end up deadly bad for any western nation.

Trump is showing Kim by his words that he means business.    Trump managed to get the UN to unanimously impose sanctions on N Korea.   Which shows you that even the UN thinks this guy is a threat.

So to all the Trump haters out there.   You know who you are.   You are wrong.   Ignoring problems like Kim doesn’t make you safer, it puts us all in danger.   This was something that should have been dealt with by Obama.    Now Trump has to clean up the mess that Obama left and he is doing that.

If N Korea has to be turned into a big crater, then I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
